Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University, through the Internal Supervisory Unit (SPI), in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Directorate General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Technology, Ministry of Education and Culture, held a socialization on “Development of Integrity Zones Towards a Corruption-Free Area within Lambung Mangkurat University” on Thursday (11/7/2024).

The socialization which was held at the Mini Lecture Theater of the Faculty of Economics and Business was attended by the Rector of ULM Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E, M.Si, Vice Rectors and Deans and Vice Deans, and all officials from units under ULM.

Presenting two expert speakers, namely Zulfahmi and Syachrudin from the Secretariat of the Directorate General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Technology, the entire academic community was given a comprehensive understanding of the concepts, objectives and steps needed to create an environment that is free from corruption and has high integrity.

In line with the Rector of ULM, he hopes that this socialization can have a positive impact on ULM, especially to be able to prevent forms of corruption that might occur at ULM. “The crucial thing we are facing right now is how to fight the movements and models or forms of implementing rampant corruption.

“This must be protected so that it doesn’t happen at Lambung Mangkurat University,” said the Rector.

Apart from that, through this socialization the Rector also hopes to be able to equip the academic community within ULM to be able to implement an Integrity Zone development system because this is considered not just a mere formality but has also become a necessity for a higher education institution.

“This is one of the organizational needs, ULM’s needs, if ULM wants to fly even higher,” he concluded

Corruption is one of the biggest challenges faced by countries around the world, including Indonesia. Corrupt practices not only harm state finances, but also erode public trust in government institutions and hinder national development.

In an effort to eradicate corruption, various strategies and policies have been implemented by the Indonesian government, one of which is the development of an Integrity Zone (ZI) towards a Corruption Free Area (WBK).

Integrity Zone is a term for work units that have a strong commitment to preventing corruption and improving the quality of public services through implementing the principles of good governance. The development of ZI is part of bureaucratic reform which aims to create a clean, accountable and professional bureaucracy. By creating ZI, it is hoped that every government agency can provide services that are transparent and free from corrupt practices.

The development of an Integrity Zone (ZI) towards a Corruption Free Area (WBK) is not only relevant for government agencies, but is also very beneficial for educational institutions, including universities. The adoption of ZI in a university environment brings various significant benefits, which have an impact on improving the quality of education, governance and public trust in the institution.
