Banjarmasin – A new approach to the creative economy makes the role of the millennial generation very necessary in its development. The academic community of Lambung Mangkurat University through the Faculty of Economics and Business is also very aware of this, which held an international seminar with the theme “Exploring the Potential of the Millennial Generation in the Development of Indonesia’s Creativity & Economy” on Saturday (6/7/2024).

The event, which was held at the FEB Lecture Theater, discussed strategies and opportunities that are wide open for the millennial generation in developing the creative economy in Indonesia together with two speakers, namely M. Zain Mahbuby, CETP, CLMA (Certified Leadership Management Associate), and Hajriansyah , M.Ag (Chairman of the Banjarmasin Arts Council). The two speakers provided insight into the digital economy 4.0 and opportunities and strategies in developing businesses in the digital business era.

Vice Rector IV Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc, who was present and opened this event, really appreciated the holding of the international seminar which is expected to provide motivation and enthusiasm for ULM students, especially to be able to develop the creative economy in Indonesia. The event was also attended by the Dean of FEB Prof. Dr. It is hoped that Ahmad Greece, SE., M.Si will be able to enable students to identify themselves with what potential they have to contribute to improving the Indonesian economy.

“Once again I send my gratitude to all participants, speakers for dedication, and commitment to advancing this important seminar,” he concluded.

The millennial generation is a generation born between the early 1980s to the mid-1990s to the early 2000s and has now become one of the largest and most influential demographic groups in the world, including in Indonesia. In recent years, this generation has shown extraordinary potential in various aspects of life, especially in the fields of creativity and economics.

The growth of digital technology and easy access to information has enabled the millennial generation to become more innovative and competitive. They not only consume, but also actively create new trends that drive social and economic change.

In Indonesia, the role of the millennial generation in economic development is increasingly crucial. They are the main drivers in creative sectors such as the music, film, art, fashion and technology industries.

The existence of social media and digital platforms has provided space for millennials to express their creativity and reach a global audience. Apart from that, many millennials are entering the world of entrepreneurship, creating innovative startups that contribute significantly to the national economy.
