Banjarmasin City PKK Chair Encourages Students’ Active Role in Community Social Activities
Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) as one of the universities implementing the 4th batch of the Independent Student Exchange (PMM) program invited the Chair of the Banjarmasin City PKK Hj. Wasilah Ibnu Sina, as resource person on Saturday (25/5/2024) at the General Building ULM Banjarmasin. Hj. Wasilah was invited as a speaker at the PMM Batch 4 Inspiration Module event with the theme “The Future Existence of Indonesian Women Building a Country in Diversity”.
The lively event was attended by lecturers and university officials as well as students from various regions who are members of the PMM inbound program. This year, ULM accepted 96 students from 53 campuses in various regions in Indonesia to study for one semester at ULM.
In his remarks, the inbound and outbound coordinator of Lambung Mangkurat University, Prof. Suratno, M.Pd, who in this case was represented by Diani Ayu Pratiwi, M.Pd, said that ULM appreciated the presence of the Banjarmasin PKK chairman who was willing to be a resource person at this event which would certainly be an inspiration for the wider audience.
Prof. Suratno also said that the Archipelago Module at ULM includes 3 (three) activities, namely arts, culture, geography and creative economy which will be carried out by students. It is hoped that this activity can have a positive impact on students, especially to enrich insight and experience gained through interaction with various cultures and different educational environments.
“This program provides students with the opportunity to study outside their home campus, so they can broaden their horizons and enrich their learning experience,” he said.
Dr. Dr. Hj. Siti Wasilah, M.Si., Med., as the resource person, explained the role of women in city development and the importance of active involvement of students in social activities in her discussion. She also emphasized the important role of women in various sectors, especially in efforts to improve the welfare of families and society.
“Women have great potential in various fields, and their active participation is very necessary to achieve sustainable development,” she said.
The students who attended seemed enthusiastic about participating in the question and answer session held after the presentation. They asked various questions about the roles and challenges faced by women in development and how they can contribute significantly to society.
It is hoped that the 4th batch of Independent Student Exchange will be a momentum for students to continue to innovate and contribute to community development through various positive activities.
With a program like this, Lambung Mangkurat University continues to be committed to producing a young generation who is not only academically intelligent, but also has high social awareness and is able to become agents of change in society.
