Banjarbaru – Dozens of students from the Nursing Study Program, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK), Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) officially took their clerkship oath in the Capping Day procession, which was held in the FKIK ULM Hall.
The event was held solemnly and attended by the Dean of FKIK, lecturers, and students who will begin the clinical practice phase. This momentum marks an important transition from academic learning in the classroom to the world of professional practice in health care facilities.
In the procession, students took their oath to carry out nursing practice by upholding ethics, integrity, and professionalism. The oath was then signed by student representatives and ratified directly by the Dean of FKIK ULM, Prof. Dr. dr. Syamsul Arifin, M.Pd., FISPH., FISCM., together with the Head of Department, Dr. Herawati, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., as a form of official recognition of their readiness to undergo clinical practice.
The Dean of FKIK in his speech reminded that the clinical phase is not just a technical exercise, but also a means of forming sensitivity and social responsibility as prospective health workers.
“Capping Day is not only a ceremony, but also a starting point to demonstrate the noble values of the profession. Be a nurse who is not only skilled, but also full of empathy and responsibility towards patients,” he said.
The lecturers who attended also delivered inspirational messages, encouraging students to make the practice period a valuable learning tool—not only in terms of clinical skills, but also the ability to communicate and work in a health team professionally.
Capping Day is an important tradition in the world of nursing that reflects the readiness and honor of students in carrying out their duties as prospective nurses. With the implementation of this activity, students are expected to be able to apply their knowledge in a humanistic, professional, and ethical manner in society.
