Field Assessment of ULM Integrated Laboratory: Steps Towards the National Research Epicenter
Banjarbaru – The Integrated Laboratory of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) is committed to continuing to improve the quality of service by carrying out field assessment activities as part of the laboratory accreditation process on Monday (4/29/2025). This activity involved a team of assessors from the National Accreditation Committee (KAN) to assess the readiness of the laboratory in meeting the quality and service standards of the ULM Integrated Laboratory, namely Susy Lahtiani as the head assessor, Rani Gustia, Tri Handayani, and Slamet Tri Ariyanto.
ULM Vice Rector II, Dr. Ir. Aref, RM Akbar, M.Si, IPU who attended the activity welcomed this agenda. This is a shared ideal for ULM to have an internationally accredited Laboratory.
“We hope that all services in the integrated laboratory can be certified,” said Dr. Arief.
ULM Rector, Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si who was also present at the assessment emphasized that accreditation by KAN will strengthen the position of the Integrated Laboratory as a center for quality research and testing services.
“With this accreditation, we hope that the Integrated Laboratory will become the epicenter of research and income generation for ULM as a PTN-BLU. This will be a guarantee of test and research quality for service users inside and outside the campus,” said the ULM Rector.
This activity was filled with visits by the assessor team to each part of the laboratory, both in the integrated laboratory and laboratories spread across several places such as the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Engineering, and the Environmental Research Center (PPLH).
In this activity, the assessor team also conducted interviews with lab officers. Susy Lahtiani as the Chief Assessor was tasked with assessing the Heavy Metal, Water Quality, and Hydrobio Ecology Laboratories, Tri Handayani for Soil Structure and Materials, Slamet Tri Ariyanto for Air and Soil aspects, and Rani Gustia who assessed the Quality and Management aspects of the Laboratory.
Dr. Liling, Head of UPA Lab. Terpadu emphasized that the existence of this laboratory can support research activities for ULM academics and also collaboration with external parties.
“This laboratory is ready to support Tridharma, lecturer and student research, and external collaboration. This accreditation will strengthen ULM’s position as a nationally reputable research and testing service center,” said Dr. Liling.
