International Conference on Mathematics, Science and Computer Education (ICMSCEdu) 2024
Banjarmasin – The Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) is again holding the International Conference on Mathematics, Science and Computer Education (ICMSCEdu) 2024 for the third time after previously being held in 2019 and 2022.
The organizer of this activity, the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) is collaborating with various international and national organizations, including:
- Pueblo Science from Canada, Physical Society of Indonesia (PSI),
- Indonesian Chemistry Association (HKI),
- Indonesian Science Educators Association (PPII), Indonesian Mathematics Association,
- Indonesian Biology Educators and Researchers Association (HPPBI),
- Informatics and Computing Higher Education Association (APTIKOM), and
- Highly Functioning Education Consulting Services (HAFECS) from Indonesia.
With a broad scope covering applied sciences and education in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Computer Science, and Educational Sciences, this conference is designed to be a forum for sharing and publishing knowledge, while supporting the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar curriculum. This activity was held for 2 days, Friday and Saturday, October 18-19, 2024 at the Aria Barito Hotel Banjarmasin.
This activity is themed “Harmonizing STEAM Education for Sustainable Development Goals”. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) plays an important role in achieving science learning that integrates an interdisciplinary approach that encourages creativity and innovation.
According to the chairman of the committee, Dr. Syahmani, M.Sc., through STEAM harmonization, students are not only taught basic concepts, but are also trained to solve real-world problems related to sustainability issues, such as climate change and social inequality. This approach invites students to think critically and collaboratively, preparing them to become future leaders who are able to create sustainable solutions. By combining art elements in STEM learning, it is hoped that a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the global challenges faced will emerge, so that they can contribute positively to society and the environment.
This activity brought in speakers from various countries, namely:

- Dr. Sutarto Hadi, M.Sc., M.Sc. (Lambung Mangkurat University).
In addition, this conference also attended several guest speakers, namely Dr. Arif Sholahuddin, M.Sc., (Lambung Mangkurat University), Dr. Meryansumayeka, S.Pd., M.Sc (Sriwijaya University), Dr. Ir. Jaka Fajar Fatriansyah, M.Sc., IPM., (University of Indonesia), Danang Bagus Yudistira, M.Sc (HAFECS), Dr. Amalia Rezeki, M.Pd (Lambung Mangkurat University), Dr. Harja Santana Purba, M.Kom (Lambung Mangkurat University), Dr. Syahmani, M.Sc (Lambung Mangkurat University), and Dr. Sri Hartini, M.Sc (Lambung Mangkurat University).
The activity was opened by Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc, Vice Rector for Cooperation, Public Relations, and Information Systems. This activity is divided into two sessions, namely the plenary session and the parallel session. In the parallel session, there are 89 abstracts that will be presented with a total of 247 authors. The authors come from various universities, including Lambung Mangkurat University, Mulawarman University, Syiah Kuala University, Sunan Ampel State Islamic University, Surabaya Standardization and Industrial Service Agency (BSPJI Surabaya), Indonesian Education University, Center for Quality Control and Supervision of Marine and Fishery Products Surabaya, Malang State University, Antasari State Islamic University Banjarmasin, Yogyakarta State University, Palangkaraya University, Wahidiyah University, Hasanuddin University, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Borneo Tarakan University, Banjarmasin State Polytechnic, PGRI Kalimantan University, University of Indonesia, Serang Raya University, Banten, Sriwijaya University, Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University, Sebelas Maret University, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta, KH University. A. Wahab Hasbullah, Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo, Makasar State University, Darul Ulum Islamic University, PGRI Semarang University, Khairun University, Malaysian Technology University, Open University, HAFECS Research and Publication, Djuanda University, and other institutions. The participants who attended were 420 people.
Dean of FKIP ULM, Prof. Dr. Sunarno Basuki, M.Kes., AIFO is proud to invite experts in Mathematics, Science and Computer Science to share the latest findings in their respective fields of expertise. He also hopes that this international conference can be a place for academics, teacher educators, researchers, teachers, and students from elementary, secondary, and higher education from all over the world to share findings, expertise, and experiences in the fields of Mathematics, Science, and Computer Education to contribute to developing education in our country.
