State University Library Collaboration Forum Holds Seminar on Library Transformation in the Digital Era
Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) had the opportunity to attend a national seminar with the theme “Transformation of Academic Libraries in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Standardization, Collaboration and Innovation” which was held by the State University Library Cooperation Forum (FKP2TN) on Tuesday (11/6 /2024). The event which was held at the Rattan Inn Hotel was initiated by the chairman of the State University library collaboration forum.
Prof. E. Aminudin Aziz, M.A., Ph.D was present as the keynote speaker at this seminar along with 3 (three) other speakers who are experts in related fields. First, namely a resource person from the Director General of Higher Education who discussed academic library development policies in improving the quality of higher education. The other speakers were the Director of BAN PT who discussed how to position libraries in institutional and study accreditation in the standardization and accreditation of Higher Education as well as the Director of Standardization and Accreditation of the National Library of Indonesia with the topic of discussing Standardization and Accreditation of Higher Education libraries and Opportunities for Innovation and Competition in the Digital Era.
A total of 110 participants attended and seemed enthusiastic about listening to the material provided by the three speakers. Even though they presented different material, the material from the speakers essentially discussed exploring various strategies for adopting artificial intelligence that can help libraries become more responsive to user needs.
This activity was then continued with the inauguration of the management of the State University Library Collaboration Forum (FKP2TN) which will be carried out directly by the head of the National Library’s Organization, Cooperation and Public Relations Legal bureau. The chairman of the State University library collaboration forum welcomed the arrival of the participants, members and employees of the PTN library.
The State University Library Collaboration Forum (FKP2TN) is an organization that brings together libraries at state universities in Indonesia. This forum works to accommodate and foster cooperation between State University libraries in Indonesia. FKP2TN was founded on September 26 1992 and was registered with Notarial Deed Number 1 of 2014. The main objective of FKPPTN is to increase collaboration between state university libraries, strengthen information networks, and facilitate the exchange of resources and information.
The transformation of academic libraries in the era of artificial intelligence (AI) is a crucial step to increase efficiency, accessibility and quality of library services where the use of AI can automate the process of cataloging books and scientific articles, reduce human error and increase data consistency. Therefore, the use of AI will have an impact on standardization, especially in libraries, especially in terms of information management, customer service, collection management, information access, staff training, and collaboration between libraries. Apart from that, this event also provided insight into the importance of collaboration between libraries in building stronger and more effective networks.
This activity is expected to be a meeting point for stakeholders to deepen their understanding of the role of AI in libraries. Apart from that, it will provide an opportunity for participants to exchange experiences and ideas about the application of artificial intelligence in libraries, as well as to build closer collaboration between university libraries. throughout Indonesia.
