FKG ULM Holds Curriculum Workshop to Improve Graduate Competency
Banjarmasin – In order to explore the latest information regarding curriculum in the world of education, especially health, the Faculty of Dentistry conducted a Curriculum Workshop. On Thursday (20/6/2024). The event, which was held at the G’Sign Hotel Banjarmasin, invited the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni for each Faculty and the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. Apart from that, Commission IV Health Sector Provincial DPRD was also present. South Kalimantan, Commission IV for Banjarmasin City Health, Head of the Banjarmasin City Health Service, Head of the District Health Service. Banjar, and Head of the Banjarbaru City Health Service.
This activity also invited expert speakers in their fields, namely Prof. Dr. Devi Rianti, drg., M.Kes from (Unair) who will discuss material related to preparing the curriculum for the Bachelor of Dentistry program, and Dr. Sri Susilawati, drg., M.Kes and Dr. Risti Saptarini Primarti, drg., Sp.KGA.Subsp.KKA (K) (Unpad).
Universities will be judged largely on the quality of their graduates. How do university graduates have competence and expertise And this can be achieved if the educational institution has a good learning process. A good learning process cannot be separated from curriculum issues that are always being developed
Dean of FKG, Prof. Maharani explained that the existence of a curriculum that is always undergoing changes/revisions, especially from changes in numbers, the addition of Interprofessional Education (IPE) means that educational institutions must be ready to face these changes. He thought that this meeting was considered an important moment for stakeholders to be able to share experiences and opinions in order to produce competent dentist graduates.
“Maybe later we can discuss so we can be more updated and our graduates will become more competent dentists,” said Prof. Maharani.
He also hopes that this activity can provide knowledge and insight, especially to update knowledge about the curriculum which is adapted to current developments, assisted by the resource persons who were present on this occasion.
“My hope today is that lecturers and stakeholders can be open to the knowledge of information from other universities and later we will adapt it to our needs, especially input from stakeholders and later it will be adjusted to the curriculum that has been determined.” she added
