ULM Holds Career Development FGD, Encourages the Formation of Networks with the World of Work
Banjarmasin – The Career and Entrepreneurship Development Academic Support Unit (UPA) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the topic of Increasing the Effectiveness of Career Development Programs for Students and Alumni. This activity takes the theme “Partnership between Limited Liability Companies and the Industrial World” and will be held for 2 (two) days, namely 13-14 June 2024 at the Fugo Hotel Banjarmasin.
Dr. Irwansyah, S.Sos., M.Sc., as Head of UPA PKK ULM said that this FGD was held to provide benefits and increase the abilities of ULM students and alumni. There are at least 3 (three) main things that UPA PKK wants to achieve through this activity, namely:
Analyzing the needs and expectations of all stakeholders such as students, alumni, business world, companies, government, society and other entities related to career development programs;
Identify deficiencies and potential improvements for existing programs; And
Formulate recommendations and implementative steps to increase the effectiveness of career development programs.
UPA PKK ULM presented 2 (two) resource persons as well as initiators of the FGD discussion this time. The first material will be presented by the Head of Strategic Partnerships, Merdeka Campus Executive, Nurhadi, MM. Next, the second material will be presented by Tegus Kusumantono who is the Head of the Human Resources Department of PT Adaro Indonesia.
ULM Vice Rector for Finance and General Affairs Dr. Ir. Arief Rahmad Maulana Akbar, M.Sc., IPU., also attended this activity representing the Rector . He said that FGD was an important agenda and a critical point for PTN graduates, especially ULM.
“PTN’s target is not just for all graduates to become officers or employees, but to enable its students to become graduates who are independent in their knowledge,” said Dr. Arief.
The limited job opportunities available to students graduating from tertiary institutions was the main topic of discussion in this FGD. He also said that lecturers and faculty leaders have an important role in opening networks between graduates and the world of work.
