Welcoming the New Curriculum, FKG ULM Holds a Workshop
Banjarmasin – In order to introduce the new curriculum that will be implemented, the Faculty of Dentistry, Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) conducted an Inter Professional Education (IPE) and Inter Professional Collaboration (IPC) Workshop on Saturday, (9/3/2024). This event was attended by the Dean of FKG ULM Prof. Dr. Drg. Maharani Laillyza Apriasari, Sp.PM and lecturer at FKG.
This workshop was held in the context of introducing the new curriculum which will be implemented at FKG ULM by presenting 2 resource persons, namely Drg. Dwi Suhartiningtyas, M.D.Sc. As a lecturer at FKG Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY) and Dr. Dr. Wiwwik Kusumawati, M.Kes as a lecturer at the Faculty of Health and Health Sciences (FKIK) Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY).
IPE and IPC are things that have only recently become known, especially at ULM itself, even though these two things have been well known in foreign universities for 50 years. Therefore, he hopes that this workshop can be a starting point for the entire ULM academic community to be able to equip themselves to welcome the presence of these two programs.
“This requires a lot of cooperation and parties integrating with each other,” said the Dean of FKG ULM.
The aim of IPE and IPC is that this curriculum will enable students to work together with various teams in a job. It is hoped that FKG graduates when serving in the field can carry out their work competently in terms of communication, cooperation and other fields.
Interprofessional Education (IPE) is a collaborative practice between two or more health professions who study each other’s roles and aims to improve collaboration capabilities and the quality of health services.
Meanwhile, Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC) is a partnership between people with different professional backgrounds and working together to solve health problems and provide health services. One way to maintain the quality of service and patient safety is by implementing interprofessional collaboration (IPC). IPC implemented competently and efficiently can build a relationship of trust between health workers and patients.
The aim of Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC) is as a forum for efforts to realize effective collaborative practices between professions so that collaboration between professions in hospitals can support patient health and safety.
It is hoped that this activity can provide benefits and insight and increase the competence of lecturers, especially FKG ULM lecturers.
“So that the instructors and lecturers who handle this activity have no doubts and are truly competent, students also don’t make the wrong move when they are in the field during the activity,” she added.
