Student Organization Discussion and Tree Planting with the Rector at KHDTK

Banjarbaru – The Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E, M.Si led the student organization discussion event which was held simultaneously with the tree planting activity. The activity which was held on Saturday (2/11/2024) was also attended by the Vice Rector III of ULM Dr. Rusmin, Head of UPA LLB, ULM Student Organization Team participants which took place in the Special Purpose Forest Area (KHDTK) of Lambung Mangkurat University, KHDTK Land, Tahura Sultan Adam, Kiram Village, Karang Intan District, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan

The selection of KHDTK as the place for the student organization discussion and tree planting was not without reason. The reason is, this area has been designated as a Special Purpose Forest Area (KHDTK) as an educational and training forest managed by Lambung Mangkurat University based on the Decree of the Minister of Forestry and Environment No. 900/Menlhk/Setjen/PLA.0/2016 dated December 6, 2016. Previously, the 2,000 ha forest in this area was an educational forest that had been utilized by ULM students and lecturers, especially the Faculty of Forestry since 1980, one of which was as a place for implementing Field Work Practices (PKL).

The ULM Rector said that the existence of KHDTK as an educational and training forest managed by ULM is a form of valuable asset that is owned. So, with this activity, it can also introduce Ormawa to the duties and functions of the existence of KHDTK for the ULM academic community.

“Our students must understand what KHDTK is, mangrove land and pbph (forest utilization business permit). So this must be socialized, all friends of Ormawa must understand that ULM has assets that are not owned by other universities anywhere in Indonesia and even the world, so this can be a source of pride when we talk to our friends in various countries. ” Said the ULM Rector.

Furthermore, ULM through the UPA Wetland Environment also aims to support sharpening and accelerating our targets in accordance with ULM’s vision. Head of UPA LLB Mrs. Maya who was also present at the tree planting event together with the ULM Ormawa team said that they have a priority to be able to obtain a SK PBPH (forest utilization business permit) on mangrove land in Kotabaru Regency of around 611 hectares.

“If our Ormawa friends want to carry out activities on mangrove land, we would be very grateful so that we will be more visible, how we can carry out activities on mangrove land.”
