Banjarmasin – The Academic Guidance and Counseling Support Unit (UPA BK) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a Workshop with the theme “Optimizing Organization Member Cadre Development in the Era of Disruption for Lambung Mangkurat University Students”. The event was held on Wednesday (10/23/2024) at the G’Sign Hotel Banjarmasin, inviting students who are active as organization administrators, both at the university and faculty levels.
The workshop presented the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Alumni of UNTIDAR, Prof. Dr. Parmin, S.Pd., M.Pd., as the speaker. The Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni of ULM Dr. Muhammad Rusmin Nuryadin, S.E., M.Si., as the keynote speaker delivered several messages regarding the condition of student organizations in the ULM environment.
He said that student organization units have a fairly important role in student life. Through activities in student organizations, students can train their soft skills as well as their interests and talents. Not infrequently, ULM students who excel are students who are also active in student organizations.
Therefore, Dr. Rusmin said that it is important for Student Activity Units (UKM) and student organizations (Ormawa) to understand how to manage the organization. He said that in the future he will design training in stages for UKM and Ormawa.
“We will provide training, starting from administrative training, financial training, to member management,” he said.
In addition, Dr. Rusmin also said that there is a plan to carry out national defense training activities for UKM and Ormawa administrators.
“As the next generation of the country, we need to have insight into national defense,” said Dr. Rusmin.
On this occasion, the Vice Rector of ULM also said that with these activities, it is hoped that it can encourage the growth of talent and increase achievement among ULM students. This year, 12 student organizations successfully passed to get funding in the Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa).
In the future, Dr. Rusmin hopes that these achievements will continue to increase. Therefore, it is important for students who are active in student organization management to understand the process of cadre formation and good organizational governance.
“I believe that you ULM students can oversee and run student organizations better so that they can synergize with the campus and achieve proud achievements,” he concluded.
