Strategic Cooperation: FKIK ULM and Puskesad Improve Specialist Doctor Education
Banjarmasin – The Army Health Center (Puskesad) has appointed the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of Lambung Mangkurat University (FKIK ULM) as a reference for TNI doctors to take part in specialist doctor education study programs, especially for the Kalimantan region.
“FKIK ULM is used as one of the destinations for specialist doctor education for general practitioners who are members of the TNI to improve their medical skills,” said the Dean of FKIK ULM, Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin, in Banjarbaru, Friday, October 11, 2024.
This agreement was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and cooperation agreement (PKS) between ULM and the Indonesian Ministry of Defense. The Head of the Army Health Center, Major General TNI dr. Sugiarto, signed the PKS with the Dean of FKIK ULM, Prof. Syamsul Arifin, regarding cooperation in specialist doctor education for TNI members.
Prof. Syamsul stated that the trust of Puskesad is a source of pride for FKIK ULM which continues to be committed to organizing quality specialist doctor education study programs. Currently, FKIK ULM has seven specialist study programs, namely the Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist Study Program, Surgery Specialist Study Program, Pediatric Health Science Specialist Study Program, Internal Medicine Specialist Study Program, Lung Specialist Study Program, Anesthesiology Specialist Study Program, and Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist Study Program.
“Specifically, the Internal Medicine Specialist Study Program has achieved Excellent accreditation from the Indonesian Higher Health Education Independent Accreditation Institute (LAM-PTKes),” he said.
In addition to the Internal Medicine Specialist Study Program which is accredited Excellent, Prof. Syamsul added that other study programs are accredited Very Good, except for the Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist Study Program which was recently established with Good accreditation. Prof. Syamsul also mentioned that there are currently three alumni of FKIK ULM who have careers in the TNI with an average rank of Lieutenant Colonel. One of them is the Head of TPT Hospital Dr. R. Soeharsono Banjarmasin, Lieutenant Colonel Ckm dr. Dames Indralaga.
“We also encourage more alumni of FKIK ULM to have a career in the TNI-Polri as part of their devotion to the nation and state with a very open career future,” concluded Prof. Syamsul.
