ULM Holds Workshop for Young Lecturers, Prepares Strategy to Mentor Talented Students
Banjarmasin – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) held a Socialization and Workshop activity for Mentoring Lecturers. The activity was held on Thursday (26/9/2024) at the Lecture Theater General Building ULM Banjarmasin.
The activity was held in order to improve the quality and quantity of participation of Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) in the Talenta activities organized by the Indonesian Talent Development Agency (BPTI) 2025. Therefore, ULM invited hundreds of young lecturers from all faculties in ULM to attend and participate in the activity.
This event presented 2 (two) speakers, namely Prof. Dr. drg. A. Arsunan Arsin, M.Kes., CWM from Hasanuddin University and Dr. Muhammad Abdan Shadiqi, S.Psi, M.Psi, a lecturer in the Psychology study program, FKIK ULM, who just received an award as the Most Supervising Lecturer from the 2024 PKM Award. Through this activity, young ULM lecturers will be taught methods and tips for strengthening student reasoning as well as successful strategies for guiding PKM from ideas to being able to compete in PIMNAS.
This year, ULM has successfully entered the national cluster II event based on achievements throughout the year. Just last August, the Vice Rector III for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Muhammad Rusmin Nuryadin, S.E., M.Sc., represented ULM to receive 5 (five) awards in the 2024 PKM Award.
The achievement is certainly a source of pride for ULM, but it is also a reminder for ULM to maintain and continue to strive to improve these achievements. Therefore, this socialization and workshop activity was held with the aim of preparing the regeneration of supervising lecturers for students who will compete.
“Students need to be well-supervised, they often have ideas but need direction from all of us. We will carry out this mentoring process from this year. Therefore, we start by carrying out this activity to introduce the talent event to our lecturers at ULM,” he said.
In the last 3 (three) years, Lambung Mangkurat University has been actively sending tens to hundreds of students each year to the national event of the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI). Dr. Rusmin said that in the future, ULM targets to be able to send more students with more diverse competitions at the BPTI event.
“Student talent is extraordinary and we must foster it. Through this activity, we can also motivate each other to continue to innovate to grow ULM through achievements at the national and international levels,” he said.
