Holding Journalism Training, ULM Public Relations’ Role in Encouraging Information Dissemination

Pelaihari – The importance of the role of public relations in conveying accurate, transparent, and consistent information to the public makes the image of the institution cannot ignore the public relations work unit within the institution itself. To maximize its role in higher education institutions, Public Relations of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) is committed to being a mouthpiece for access to information related to academics, activities, and achievements of its academic community.
ULM Public Relations strives for various information related to the university to be easily accessible and integrated through one official platform, namely the website ulm.my.id. Therefore, ULM Public Relations actively broadcasts the role of public relations in work units within ULM to contribute to broadcasting news or information that should be known by the wider community.
In addition, ULM Public Relations must also improve the quality and effectiveness of public communication in order to support ULM’s vision of becoming a World Class University. Therefore, Public Relations Coordination and Journalism Training were held on Tuesday (30/7/2024).
The activity invited public relations staff in ULM, both from Faculties, Institutions, and UPA to attend this training as participants. This activity also aims to align public relations strategies across ULM work units, ensure better information integration, and overcome obstacles faced in information management at the faculty, institution and Academic Support Unit (UPA) levels.
Opened by ULM Vice Rector IV Dr. Ir Yusuf Azis, M.Sc, the activity held at the Agripeka Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Pelaihari was attended by 32 participants with the presence of resource person Anjar Wulandari as Senior Editor and Coverage Coordinator of the Banjarmasin Post Group. He presented material related to how to make press releases, articles and how to publish properly and correctly.
The presence of representatives from each Faculty, Institution and UPA in the ULM environment is expected to increase the activeness of creating articles, press releases and other information that is indeed highly anticipated by students, lecturers and the wider community, especially information or news articles related to research, scholarships, achievements and so on.
Therefore, this activity is expected to provide additional knowledge about tips and tricks that can be used to obtain materials and process information so that it can be published and accepted by the wider community.
