Public Speaking Training Improves ORMAWA Competence

Banjarmasin – Ormawa is a Student Organization, which is a forum or association for students in higher education to organize and develop themselves in various fields. Ormawa usually includes various types of organizations that aim to support the development of student interests, talents, skills, and leadership such as BEM, HIMA and so on.
Effective communication skills are very important in an organization because they contribute directly to the success and efficiency of operations. This is the support for members of the organization in increasing collaboration and building strong relationships with various parties. Therefore, this is the importance of knowledge about public speaking for ormawa in carrying out their organizational duties.
Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) through the Student and Alumni Development Division held a Public Speaking Training event for Student Organizations (Ormawa) of Lambung Mangkurat University with the theme “Dare to Speak, Dare to Action” on Wednesday, (24/7/2024). This activity presented speakers from the Banjarmasin Cuecard Public Speaking school, namely Aditya Gusta and Jaka Surya Pradana.
Student and Alumni Development Coordinator Evy Noor Aina Hasni, S.E. has high hopes for the members of the student organizations who are present to be able to absorb the knowledge provided by the speakers considering that this is a basic need required by every organization to support its activities.
“I hope you can really follow, concentrate and focus because this public speaking is the basis for you to organize,” she said.
This activity will later provide knowledge to participants on how to know the patterns, methods, techniques, and types of public speaking that can be mastered. In addition, it also provides certain tricks that can raise the competence and self-confidence of the participants so that they become capital to be able to improve their speaking skills.
