ULM Career Day: Increased Participants and Open to the Public
Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) through the Career Development and Entrepreneurship Academic Support Unit (UPA PKK) held a Career Day activity at the ULM Multipurpose Building, on Wednesday (17/7/2024). This activity was opened with the beating of the gong by ULM Vice Rector IV Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc.
A total of 10 collaboration partners participated in the Career Day event which is routinely held every year. From BUMN, BUMD, and the private sector. According to the Head of UPA PKK, Dr. Irwansyah This is an achievement that deserves appreciation because the list of participating partners or companies always increases from previous years where in the previous year there were only 6 companies participating in the Career Day event and this year it was able to reach 10 companies.
“This is an annual event, during my management, this is the second and thank God, this year it has increased both in terms of participants and applicants,” said the Head of UPA PKK.
This activity, which can support increasing the Main Performance Indicators (IKU) of higher education, is quite interesting for students. This was proven by the enthusiastic presence of ULM students at the newly opened event.
This is also a motivation for the Head of UPA PKK to continue to increase the participation of other companies, especially mining companies, to participate in attracting alumni so that they can be absorbed and meet employment needs.
“We hope that in the future, seeing this quite high interest, we will increase the number of participants or companies taking part, especially mining companies,” he said.
ULM, as the oldest university in Kalimantan, is even able to make its alumni worthy of consideration in the job market. According to Dr. Irwansyah, there are strategic positions that are specifically reserved for ULM.
“Thank God, currently many of the reports that have been published have been accommodated and thank God, currently companies have increasingly increased positions for ULM,” he concluded
Vice Rector IV for Cooperation, Public Relations and Information Systems ULM Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc., hopes that holding this activity will ultimately bring many ULM students and alumni to pursue careers in companies that have become collaborative partners with ULM participating in this activity.
“We hope that in the future quite a lot of our alumni will be able to work or have careers in various companies or institutions that are currently opening vacancies,” he said.
