Visit of the Malaysian Embassy’s Education Attache, Adds to the List of Collaborations between ULM and Universities in Malaysia
Banjarmasin – The visit of the Education Attache of the Malaysian Embassy with his entourage to the Rectorate of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) was a visit aimed at signing an MoU between ULM and Kolej Universiti Agrosains Malaysia and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. This collaboration is carried out in order to improve the quality of education that can be carried out by the two collaborating parties. The scope of this collaboration includes research, community service, student exchanges and other mutually agreed matters.
The MoU signing ceremony was held on Monday (13/5/2024) in the Senate Meeting Room, 3rd floor, ULM Banjarmasin Rectorate. Representing the Rector of ULM Prof. Dr. Ahmad, SE., M.Si., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at ULM Dr. Iwan Aflanie, dr. M.Kes., Sp.F., S.H., was present to welcome guests from a number of universities in Malaysia. This was also explained further as a form of ongoing cooperation where there are several universities in neighboring countries that have collaborated with ULM before.
“Some forms of cooperation are already underway. “It is possible that later it will be strengthened by student exchanges, opening joint classes in certain study programs, exchanges of lecturers and professors and many more things that will be carried out,” said Dr. Iwan.
This collaboration was also like a tit for tat with the Education Attaché of the Malaysian Embassy through Education Attache Malaysia Zulfadhli who stated that ULM was a potential university to collaborate with.
“ULM is indeed suitable for collaboration with Malaysian universities. “With the experts at ULM, maybe we can share it with university experts in Malaysia,” he said.
The signing was witnessed by representatives from 6 other Malaysian universities, namely Universiti Utara Malaysia, Fame International College, Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM), Management & Science University (MSU), and Quest International University (QIU). Dr. Iwan hopes that the visit from representatives of 13 Malaysian universities can build mutual education, especially in educating Malaysian and Indonesian students, considering that ULM has quite close relations with universities in Malaysia.
