ULM Improves Disability Services and Provides Scholarships for Students with Disabilities
Banjarmasin (13 May 2024), LPMPP ULM through the Center for Development of Inclusive Education and Disability Services (P3I-LD) held an online socialization of scholarships for students with disabilities. This meeting was moderated by Nurul Hidayati Utami, S.Pd., M.Pd, and opened by the Vice Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Rusmin Nuryadin, S.E., M.Sc. Apart from existing scholarships, PT. Bayan Resources is committed to providing funds for 20 ULM students with disabilities. This scholarship covers payment of single tuition fees (UKT), living costs and other costs. Special scholarships for people with disabilities currently come from the Ministry of Education and Culture.
As an inclusive higher education institution, ULM continues to develop disability services to improve equality and educational services. Through P3I-LD, LPMPP carries out various activities including facilitating scholarship receipts. This meeting was also attended by the Department of Education and principals of high schools/equivalents in South Kalimantan Province. Chairman of P3I-LD, Dr. H. Utomo, M.Pd, hopes that all high schools and equivalents will accommodate people with disabilities, including Higher Education. Prospective students with disabilities who wish to enroll in higher education must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Previously, on May 8 2024, P3I-LD LPMPP Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) also held a consultative meeting with parents and prospective students who were interested in entering ULM in 2024. This meeting aimed to map the specificities of prospective students and provide direction regarding the possibility of continuing higher education at ULM. Although formally P3I-LD will carry out assessments of prospective students with disabilities as part of the college entrance selection. This meeting was attended by the LPMPP Secretary, Dr. Arif Sholahuddin, S.Pd., M.Si, Chair of P3I-LD, Dr. H. Utomo, M.Pd, P3-ILD Team, and several ULM disabled student volunteers.
P3I-LD continues to expand collaboration with various institutions, both national and international. Apart from conducting assessments and mentoring students with disabilities, P3I-LD also provides training for lecturers, education staff and volunteers regarding disability services.
