Commemorating the XXXII World Water Day, the Kalimantan River Regional Office Planted Trees Together

Rantau – In commemoration of the XXXII World Water Day, the Kalimantan III River Basin Center carried out a joint tree planting activity. A total of approximately 500 trees were planted along the Tapin Irrigation Park on Monday (4/3/2024). This activity is supported by inviting several related departments and institutions to contribute to tree planting as one of a series of activities.
Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) was given an extraordinary opportunity to participate in the activity which was attended by the Assistant for Government and People’s Welfare who on this occasion acted on behalf of the Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor, Head of the Kalimantan III River Basin Center (BWS) I Putu Eddy Purna Wijaya , Acting Regent of Tapin district, Dandim Tapin and Danramil 1010-01 Bungur, Kapolres and Kapolsek Tapin, Head of Bappeda, Head of PUPR Service, Head of Bungur sub-district, Deputy Chair of HATHI South Kalimantan Dr. Ir. Syaiful Anam, S.T., M.T, Management of the MELINGAI Banjarmasin River Concern Community/Society, officials at the South Kalimantan River Region Hall III. Not to forget, representatives from ULM, namely the Head of the Finance and General Bureau, along with staff representing the Rector’s absence at the invitation, were present as a form of support and participation in BWS Kalimantan III activities.
The theme of the activities commemorating the XXXII World Water Day is “Water for Peace”. The main focus of this theme is the complexity of global water issues that can create peace.
“With this theme, it is hoped that international collaboration will occur which can create global cooperation with the aim of creating conditions where water becomes a tool for peace,” said the Head of the Kalimantan River Region III (BWS).
The importance of water resources for the survival of life has become an international agenda where Indonesia is then trusted to host the 10th World Water Forum activities which will be held in May 2024. With collaboration with World Water Day activities which are held through tree planting and World Water Day activities. It is hoped that the water forum by discussing global water issues will have a good impact and change individual behavior in implementing and utilizing water.
The Governor of South Kalimantan, through the Assistant for Government and Social Welfare of South Kalimantan Province, Nurul Fajar Desira, invited the public to care more about environmental preservation, one of which is the public’s concern for orderly disposal of rubbish in its place and also wisely in utilizing resources, namely water in particular.
“Hopefully this activity, apart from being able to continue to instill concern for the environment, can also preserve life and create peace in the world,” he concluded
