From Campus to National Economy: ULM and BI Institute Strengthen Research Ecosystem
Banjarmasin, June 26, 2025 – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) hosted the Bank Indonesia Institute Goes to Campus event which was held for two days on June 25-26, 2025 at the Lecture Theater of the Faculty of Economics and Business, ULM. This event was attended by hundreds of students, lecturers, and researchers from various universities in Banjarmasin, and was carried out offline and online.
This activity is an initiative of the Bank Indonesia Institute (BINS) in expanding the research and innovation ecosystem in the fields of economics and finance through strategic collaboration with the academic world. Carrying the spirit of “connecting research to impact”, this event presents various sessions ranging from Research and Journal Paper Dissemination, Lecture & Workshop Session, Journal Socialization, Brown Bag Seminar, to Research Clinic which is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
ULM Vice Rector for Cooperation, Public Relations, and Information Systems, Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc., in his remarks expressed his appreciation for the implementation of this activity. According to him, this event provides great benefits for the campus world, especially in increasing literacy and research capacity of students and lecturers in the fields of economics and finance.
“ULM welcomes this collaboration. Through this two-day activity, we believe that the benefits will have a broad impact, especially in strengthening the involvement of the academic community in research and public policy development,” said Vice Rector 4 ULM.
Meanwhile, the Head of the BI Institute, Clarita Ligaya Iskandar, in her remarks and officially opening the event, stated that this activity is part of an effort to strengthen the research network and collaboration between Bank Indonesia and universities.
“This is the third time we have held the BI Institute Goes to Campus since 2024, and for the first time it is present in Kalimantan. We believe that strong economic research will help answer various challenges to the nation’s economy, including strengthening the MSME sector, sustainable financing, and macroeconomic stability,” she explained.
Clarita also added that in addition to seminars and dissemination sessions, participants were introduced to various excellent programs such as PRBI (Bank Indonesia Research Program), RGBI (BI Research Grant), Banlit (Research Assistance), and BBS–LKTI (Brown Bag Seminar – Scientific Writing Competition).
For two days, participants received direct training from reputable journal experts such as BMEB (Bulletin of Monetary Economics and Banking), JIMF (Journal of Indonesian Monetary and Financial Economics), and JCLI (Journal of Central Banking Law and Institutions). The Research Clinic activity is also a special attraction, where students can consult directly regarding final assignments, research proposals, and scientific publication opportunities.
This activity is an important momentum in building a collaborative and competitive national research ecosystem, as well as a real manifestation of the role of the academic world in supporting economic policies based on data and research. It is hoped that the collaboration between the BI Institute and ULM can continue and provide sustainable contributions to Indonesia’s economic growth.
