As part of the implementation of the partnership, the activity was continued with the Feed Supervisor Certification Training and Feed Supervisor Competence Test which was held for two days. This program is the result of a collaboration between the Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, ULM, the Center for Research and Development of Animal Husbandry and Tropical Animal Resources, Unhas, and the Indonesian Animal Husbandry Professional Certification Institute (LSP-PI).
Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Akhmad Rizalli Saidy, S.P., M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of this partnership in improving the competence of educators in the field of animal husbandry.
“Hasanuddin University has quality advantages that we need to learn. This time, we focus on Feed Supervisor competency certification as part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of academic staff,” he said.
Furthermore, Prof. Saidy revealed that one of the main challenges in the livestock sector in South Kalimantan is the limited supply of meat. Therefore, increasing capacity in feed management is a very crucial aspect.
“Through this certification, it is hoped that lecturers, students, and education personnel can improve their competency in producing quality feed, which ultimately contributes to increasing the livestock population in the South Kalimantan region,” he added.
This activity also plays a role in supporting the achievement of Key Performance Indicator (IKU) 4, which targets competency certification for lecturers, and IKU 6, which emphasizes cooperation between Study Programs and various external parties.
Head of the Center for Research and Development of Livestock and Tropical Animal Resources, Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jasmal A. Syamsu, M.Sc., IPU, ASEAN Eng, emphasized that the implementation of this activity is a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was previously signed by the Rector of Unhas and the Rector of ULM.
“We implement this MoU through a cooperation agreement that is realized in the form of training and certification of Feed Supervisors,” he explained.
Prof. Jasmal also emphasized the importance of the legal aspect of competence in today’s work world.
“Many individuals feel they have skills, but do not yet have recognized legality. Through this program, participants, including lecturers, students, and education personnel, will obtain competency certification that has been standardized nationally,” he explained.
Furthermore, Prof. Jasmal stated that this program is in line with the policy of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek), which encourages synergy between universities in developing education and strengthening the livestock sector in various regions.
