Towards the 66th Anniversary Celebration, ULM Holds School of Change for Lecturers
Banjarmasin – In anticipation of Universitas Lambung Mangkurat’s (ULM) 66th Dies Natalis in September, ULM Rector Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si., hopes to improve the institution’s quality, research culture, and faculty capabilities in writing scientific articles. To kick off this year’s Dies Natalis celebrations, ULM organized a general lecture titled “Change School for Research Culture and Publication Towards World University Rank,” held at the General Building of ULM Banjarmasin on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
The event featured two prominent speakers: Prof. Dr. Dahlang Tahir, S.Si., M.S. from Hasanuddin University, and Dian Ekowati, S.E., M.Si., M.AppCom(OrgCh)., Ph.D. from Airlangga University. Both shared insights and experiences in the fields of research and scientific publication, providing valuable content for the faculty and other participants.
Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc., ULM’s Vice Rector for Cooperation, Public Relations, and Information Systems, emphasized the importance of this event as an effort to propel ULM towards a higher world university ranking.
“Through this activity, we hope that our faculty will be increasingly motivated and skilled in conducting research and writing scientific articles, which will ultimately enhance ULM’s reputation on the international stage,” he said.
This event is part of ULM’s ongoing efforts to enhance academic and research quality on campus, aligning with ULM’s goal of becoming a world-class university. Additionally, it serves as a part of the Dies Natalis celebrations and as a moment to strengthen the quality and standards of ULM’s educators.
The Vice Rector explained that the ULM Monitoring and Evaluation Task Force noted that about 180 ULM faculty members have a SINTA score below 150, which disqualifies them from competing for grants from the Ministry. One of the main requirements for obtaining these grants is having reputable international publications.
“With this activity, we hope to improve their SINTA scores, so that more ULM faculty can compete for and win these grants, and produce more publications that will boost ULM’s reputation both nationally and internationally,” he concluded.
