Banjarmasin – In commemoration of Heroes’ Day, Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a ceremony attended by the entire academic community on Friday (10/11/22023) at the Open Space of the ULM Banjarmasin Campus. The ceremony was held and led by ULM Vice Rector I Dr. Iwan Aflanie, dr., M.Kes., Sp.F., SH. who read directly the message delivered by the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Tri Rismaharini to commemorate the 78th Heroes’ Day, November 10 2023.
The speech carried the theme “Heroic Spirit for the future of the Nation in fighting poverty and ignorance” which was raised through deep reflection to answer the increasingly real threat of modern colonialism. He conveyed this considering the size of the Indonesian nation, including the natural wealth it has. such as fertile soil, abundant sea products, the earth’s contents which store various minerals.
In his speech, he advised the nation’s successors to be able to manage all the natural resources they have with the huge potential of Indonesia’s population so that they can become successors who bring glory to the nation and the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia. This is certainly not an easy matter for the Nation’s successors to carry on the success of previous fighters considering the increasingly greater challenges they face, but he believes these challenges will be overcome armed with the fighting spirit of their predecessors.
“We will conquer these threats and challenges armed with the same spirit as exemplified by the fighters of November 10 1945,” wrote the Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs in his letter. The values of struggle from our predecessors should be used as a guide or guide to be followed. Apart from that, the Minister of Social Affairs hopes that the Indonesian nation will become a nation that is brave and willing to defend its nation above the interests of its group and itself.
