Banjarmasin – The Faculty of Dentistry, Lambung Mangkurat University (FKG ULM) collaborated with the Gusti Hasan Aman Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM) to hold a social service, Saturday (15/6/2024).

This social service was held to commemorate World Oral Health Day 2024 or World Dental and Oral Health Day 2024. Al Furqan Muhammadiyah Banjarmasin Modern Islamic Boarding School and Al Firdaus IT Elementary School Banjarmasin were the locations for this activity.

This year’s World Dental and Oral Health Day 2024 has the theme “Healthy Teeth are a Healthy Body” by inviting the golden generation to dare to have their teeth checked from a young age.

Director of RSGM Gusti Hasan Aman, Teguh Hardianto, through the Head of Services, Efrin Riyadi, said that this implementation was one way to educate students about maintaining dental health as early as possible.

“This social service is a preventive step to maintain oral health. “Because that will create a person who always pays attention to the health of our body as a whole,” he said.

FKG ULM together with RSGM Gusti Hasan Aman through this social service provides dental and oral health education to all levels of society. The hope is that the more people have their teeth and mouth checked, this will be a step towards giving birth to a golden generation in 2045.

Meanwhile, Lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, Lambung Mangkurat University, Wawan Arya, added that this year, in accordance with central directives, the implementation would be carried out in Islamic boarding schools or Islamic schools.

“So this time we are administering topical fluoride applications (TAF) to prevent caries or cavities in children,” he said.

Furthermore, he explained that the effect of giving TAF is not immediate, but in the future teeth that are given a layer of TAF will last a long time and will not cause cavities.

This activity was appreciated by the Principal of MI Muhammadiyah 3 Al -Furqan Banjarmasin, Wiwit Rahmawati. He was very happy that his school could be visited to carry out social services regarding dental and oral health.
