Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) is preparing to welcome the 2023 POMNAS XVIII, which will begin competition on November 12. Therefore, Tuesday (07/11/2023), ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri., S.E., M.Si., carried out activities to send off the BAPOMI Athlete Contingent for South Kalimantan Province to take part in the XVIII National Student Sports Week (POMNAS) 2023 for South Kalimantan Province which was held at the General Building, Banjarmasin Campus.

This release event was attended by the Chair of BAPOMI South Kalimantan who is also the Vice Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs at ULM, Dr. Muhammad Rusmin Nuryadin, SE., M.Sc., all committee members, athletes, coaches and Liasion Office (LO) who will be tasked with ensuring the smoothness and comfort of the 2023 POMNAS.

The Rector also did not forget to express his appreciation and thanks to the parties involved in POMNAS XVIII 2023, especially to the athletes and coaches who will be at the forefront in preparing their bodies to achieve achievements and make the people of South Kalimantan proud.

“A special thank you to all the athletes who will compete in POMNAS 2023, which we hope will make South Kalimantan proud,” said the Rector.

Not surprisingly, POMNAS is a manifestation of the central government’s trust in the regions that are trusted to host its implementation. In 2023, South Kalimantan will be the place entrusted to host the XVIIIth POMNAS. POMNAS (National Student Sports Week) is a sports competition event involving students from various universities in Indonesia. This competition provides an opportunity for students to compete in various sports. The sports available are athletics, rock climbing, swimming, karate, wrestling, tae kwon do, tennis, kempo, chess, pencak silat, bridge, sepak takraw, futsal, badminton, basketball and sand volleyball. Therefore, it is estimated that thousands of people will flock to South Kalimantan when POMNAS is held to participate in this annual activity.

South Kalimantan is also ready with athletes from all available sports. These athletes are students from all state and private universities who have significantly contributed to the name of Banua South Kalimantan including Lambung Mangkurat University, Sultan Adam College of Law, Kotabaru Polytechnic, Banjarmasin State Polytechnic, Tanah Laut State Polytechnic, Banjarmasin Health Polytechnic, STIE Pancasetia, STIKES Intan Martapura, and many more universities channel their students to contribute as athletes in this sports competition.

The Rector hopes that, through the appreciation and trust given to all parties, including the committee, LO, coaches and athletes who will compete, South Kalimantan can maintain the honor of being the host of POMNAS 2023, which is expected to run as well as possible and run successfully.
