Banjarmasin – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) once again inaugurated graduates of specialist doctors and held the 93rd doctor’s oath-taking in a solemn procession that took place at the ULM Multipurpose Building, Thursday (8/5/2025). This event was an important moment as well as a symbol of the ethical and professional responsibility officially carried out by doctors who graduated from FKIK ULM.

The activity was attended by university leaders, representatives of network hospitals, lecturers, and parents of participants. In the procession, 17 specialist doctors received brevets as a sign of graduation, while 58 new general practitioners took the oath as a form of commitment to ethical and humanitarian values in the medical profession.

Doctor Muhammad Luthfi Yahya, who represented the graduates in conveying his impressions and messages, expressed his deep gratitude to all parties who had guided and accompanied their education process.

“Our teachers taught us that character and empathy are more important than knowledge. Your fatigue is not comparable to your sincerity in teaching us. Thank you to the RSUD, network hospitals, and patients who have become our life teachers,” he said.

Deputy Director of Non-Medical Support, Law, and Training of RSUD Ulin Banjarmasin, Rusma Khazairin, SKM, expressed his appreciation and hopes for the graduates. He emphasized that RSUD Ulin is ready to be a home for doctors who graduated from FKIK ULM in continuing their service.

“Congratulations to the new doctors and specialists. We look forward to your presence to jointly improve the quality of health services in South Kalimantan,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Dean of FKIK ULM, Prof. Dr. dr. Syamsul Arifin, M.Pd., FISPH, FISCM, in his remarks emphasized the importance of the momentum of the doctor’s oath as the starting point for community service. He also conveyed the achievements and plans for the development of study programs at FKIK.

“We have achieved 56.25% of study programs with superior accreditation, and this year will apply for accreditation of surgery and pulmonology study programs. FKIK ULM is also in the process of opening a master’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in IKM, as well as a veterinary medicine and anatomical pathology specialist study program. This is all to expand access and the quality of medical education,” he explained.

The Dean of FKIK also invited new specialist doctors to help equalize health services in the regions, especially South Kalimantan and its surroundings, in line with the vision of establishing a specialist doctor education program (PPDS) in regional hospitals.

With this procession, ULM reaffirmed its commitment to producing professional, competent, and ethical medical personnel, who are ready to make a real contribution to improving the quality of public health services.
