Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) ULM Wins Third Place in Fashion Show at DWP’s 25th Anniversary

Banjarmasin – Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Universitas Lambung Mangkurat won Third Place in the Fashion Show Competition held to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Dharma Wanita Persatuan in 2024. The event, which took place at the Mahligai Pancasila Building, Banjarmasin, Monday (09/12/2024), was attended by DWP representatives from various vertical agencies in South Kalimantan.

DWP ULM on this occasion displayed Bugis traditional clothing modeled by Ishlah Wardani and Nuka who are employees at ULM. Their appearance managed to amaze the jury and the audience until finally this couple won third place.

Bugis traditional clothing reflects the cultural values, beauty, and elegance of the Bugis people, who originate from South Sulawesi. The combination of green which symbolizes purity and peace with the golden yellow which symbolizes nobility and honor makes this Bugis traditional clothing even more show the honor and dignity of the wearer. In addition, gold and silver accessories are often used to complement traditional clothing, such as rings, bracelets, and necklaces as well as hair ornaments, such as buns and flowers, adding to the beauty of women’s traditional clothing.

This series of activities continued on Wednesday (18/12/2024) with the implementation of the Women’s Day seminar at the Mahligai Banjarmasin building as well as the presentation of prizes for the winners that had previously been won.

The Governor of South Kalimantan H. Muhidin, represented by the Head of the South Kalimantan Provincial Trade Office, Sulkan, in his remarks said that since its inception until now, DWP has had an important role in mobilizing women in the work unit and hopes that this momentum can be a celebration for Dharma Wanita to increase the capacity of its organization.

“On this occasion, I encourage all elements of the Dharma Wanita movement to show their best abilities, and strengthen synergy and collaboration with the government. Let’s make the momentum of Dharma Wanita’s birthday an opportunity for reflection and to increase the organization’s capacity,” he said.
