Collaboration between ULM and Banja Regency Government to Improve Transmigrant Welfare
Martapura – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) through the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) is collaborating with the Banjar Regency Government, especially the Regional Development Planning, Research, and Development Agency (Bappedalitbang), to conduct a research entitled “Problems of Transmigration Areas in Banjar Regency”. This research aims to identify the challenges faced and find strategic solutions to improve the welfare of transmigrant communities in the area.
The Research Preliminary Exposure Activity was held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in the Banjar Regency Bappedalitbang hall. In his remarks, the Head of Bappedalitbang, Nashrullah Shadiq, explained that this research was driven by various problems in the transmigration area, including land status issues that emerged after village development programs were executed.
“With this problem, we feel the need to review the determination of the locations of these programs,” explained Nashrullah.
He added that the government’s information regarding transmigration areas is still minimal, so an in-depth study is needed to prevent similar problems from recurring.
The Head of Bappedalitbang hopes that LPPM ULM can complete this study by the end of the year, involving various sectors, including the Banjar Regency National Land Agency (BPN) and a number of related SKPDs. “We ask the LPPM ULM team to complete this study. In this activity, many parties will collaborate,” he added.
The Head of the Research Team, Prof. Dr. Drs. Suyanto, M.P., said that this study aims to accelerate development in transmigration areas.
“With transmigration, development is expected to run faster, especially in improving the welfare of transmigrants and local communities,” he said.
Prof. Suyanto also explained that the transmigration process involves several stages, namely adjustment, consolidation, and independence, with each stage taking five years.
The research techniques used in this study include interviews with respondents such as transmigrant residents, sub-district heads, suppliers, traditional leaders, community leaders, heads of transmigration UPTs, as well as data collection from various related sources. In addition to presenting initial findings, this activity was also filled with interactive discussions between participants and the research team.
With the implementation of this Preliminary Exposure, it is hoped that the research can run smoothly and produce appropriate recommendations to improve the welfare of transmigration communities in Banjar Regency.
