South Kalimantan Police Collaborate with ULM as a Campus Pioneer of Traffic Safety

Banjarmasin – The high death rate caused by traffic accidents, mostly occurs due to negligence of road users. This is related to the lack of knowledge of traffic regulations and awareness of road users. As a form of prevention or prevention of traffic accidents, the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps together with Jasa Raharja collaborated with a number of Universities in South Kalimantan to provide training related to traffic safety. The activity entitled “Traffic Safety Pioneer Campus,” was held at the G’sign Hotel Banjarmasin, Thursday (11/7/2024).
The event, which was attended by hundreds of male and female students from various Universities in South Kalimantan, aims to reduce the number of traffic accidents. The Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri expressed his gratitude and greatly appreciated this event. He hopes that students will be able to become pioneers of traffic safety.
“I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps for collaborating with campuses in South Kalimantan in implementing the Traffic Safety Pioneer Campus, we hope that students in South Kalimantan will be able to become the main pioneers in the traffic safety movement,” said the Rector.
The Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps through the Head of the Dikmas Sub-Directorate of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Senior Commissioner Arman Achdiat said that this activity is a program of the Traffic Corps that is carried out throughout the year and is intended for students, especially students, in order to build a culture of orderly traffic, because according to him, the highest number of accident victims occurs in productive ages.
“This activity is a program of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, we carry out this program throughout the year which is carried out continuously for the student community, especially students,” he said.
He also explained that this activity is one of the program activities in building a culture of orderly traffic among organized communities, namely students.
“We also have a program to disseminate traffic lessons among elementary to high school students, well this also includes the program where the goal is to build an orderly culture for students to become stimulants in carrying out their activities on the highway as pioneers of traffic safety because if we look at the data that we have collected so far, that the victims of the accident were almost on average in the productive age and the vehicles involved were almost on average two-wheeled, so we will massively carry out this activity and we have carried out this activity continuously,” explained Kombes Pol Arman Achdiat.
Meanwhile, the Head of PT Jasa Raharja, South Kalimantan Branch, Deddy Irawan, said that the collaboration program between Jasa Raharja and the National Police Traffic Corps was very appropriate in helping to reduce the number of traffic accident victims.
“From last year, the number of fatalities due to traffic accidents was 265 people, with compensation payments of 13,296,000,000, although this figure is 4.7 percent lower compared to last year,” said Dedy Irawan
In this activity, students were given briefing materials related to traffic, including from psychology experts, traffic transportation experts and their problems, the duties and roles of PT Jasa Raharja, Traffic ethics and Handling of traffic accident victims. With this activity, it is hoped that students in South Kalimantan will be able to become pioneers of models or examples of good, orderly and safe driving so that they can create an orderly culture in order to realize traffic safety.
