Marcellino Febryan & Dimas Ari Muzaqi Putra Bring Back 1st Place in the National Anatomy Olympiad
Amygdala is a National Anatomy Olympiad organized by the UMM Medical Faculty Anatomy Laboratory for all medical students throughout Indonesia. This activity starts from the preliminary round which is held on August 25, 2024 online which is then continued with the implementation of the Olympiad in the quarter-final round which is held on October 11-13, 2024 offline.
This activity is known to be attended by 127 teams from all universities in Indonesia, including representatives from Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM). Marcellino Febryan & Dimas Ari Muzaqi Putra, students of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) ULM had the opportunity to enter the final round after going through the preliminary round last August and winning 1st place in the Amygdala 2024 National Anatomy Olympiad Neuromusculoskeletal System, UMM Medical Faculty Anatomy Lab.
Marcellino in his interview admitted that the challenges faced in facing this Olympiad came from himself. So, support from relatives and family became his strength and motivation in continuing the struggle until the end.
“During the preparation for the competition, sometimes I felt tired, lazy, and wanted to give up. However, my family and closest friends always gave me positive encouragement and support so that they encouraged me to be able to give my best,” he said.
ULM, which has been the first place winner for three consecutive years, is also the reason for them to continue to maintain ULM’s reputation in this National event by making thorough preparations for 3 months. The preparations carried out included independent study, discussions with team partners, practice questions, quiz exercises, and guidance with lecturers and ULM delegates for the previous year’s Amygdala Olympiad.

In the preliminary round until the Quarter final, Marcellino and Dimas got quite good results where they were quite consistent with the score among the other teams. Then, in the Semifinal round, namely the Quick and Precise Competition (LCT), they also managed to increase their position to first place with the highest score. Until entering the Final round with the Quick and Precise Competition (LCT) mechanism and finally being able to win first place in the 2024 Amygdala Olympiad.
“This Amygdala Olympiad is very memorable for me because it not only provides experience in the field of competition, but also increases our relations with friends from other universities throughout Indonesia which is extraordinary,” he concluded.
