Mapala Wira Economica Holds Talkshow to Commemorate Earth Day 2024
Banjarmasin – Mapala Wira Economica, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a talk show to commemorate Earth Day on Saturday (27/4/2024). Carrying the theme “Building Awareness, for a Sustainable Earth”, the event was held at the Lecture Theater FEB ULM and was attended by dozens of students.
There are three materials discussed in this talk show, namely:
- The Government’s Role in Reducing Carbon Gas Emissions;
- Green Technology; And
- Air pollution
These materials were presented by 2 (two) resource persons, namely Dwi Naniek Muhariyani, S.T., M.T., Head of the Environmental Management Division for Banjarmasin City and Dr. Yogi Prihandoko, S.Pd., M.Pd., lecturer from Yogyakarta State University.
Dwi Naniek in his discussion said that several ways to reduce carbon gas emissions include encouraging people to prohibit burning rubbish and also encouraging tree planting. Meanwhile, Dr. Yogi revealed that currently Indonesia has poor air quality. He then said that green technology could be a strategic effort to improve air quality.
Green technology is a type of environmentally friendly technology, a technology that can be used to carry out industrial activity processes without causing problems for environmental preservation. Green technology is a product or result of using science and technology to develop environmentally friendly products and services that protect the environment. Apart from utilizing green technology, Dr. Yogi also said that government and personal awareness is also a very important point to reduce the impact of air pollution.
Earth Day itself is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 which aims to show support for environmental protection. Earth Day is designed to increase awareness and appreciation of the planet that humans live on, namely the earth.
