Commemorating World Oral Health Day, FKG ULM Collaborates with RSGM Gusti Hasan Aman to Hold Free Consultations
Banjarmasin – In commemoration of World Oral Health Day (WOHD), the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) in collaboration with the Gusti Hasan Aman Dental & Oral Hospital (RSGM) Banjarmasin held Teledentistry: “Online Consultation on Dental Health and Mouth” on Saturday (27/4/24). This event is a form of concern from FKG ULM and RSGM for the dental and oral health of the community, especially in the South Kalimantan area.
This session, which was opened online, attracted quite a lot of interest from the public because it provided free dental consultation services and was handled directly by professional dentists. A total of 20 professional dentists joined together to provide free consultation services which were divided into 2 (two) sessions, namely the morning session from 8 am to 12 pm and the afternoon session from 12 pm to 4 pm.
Dean of FKG ULM, Prof. Dr. Drg. Maharani Laillyzia Apriasari, Sp.PM., said that the Teledentistry activity was held considering the lack of awareness of dental and oral health in the community, especially in South Kalimantan.
“South Kalimantan is included in an area with wetland environmental criteria with water characteristics that are acidic or tend to be brackish. “These water characteristics can increase the potential for damage to the teeth and mouth,” said Prof. Empress.
Apart from that, the implementation of Teledentistry is also a form of community service activities carried out by the ULM Faculty of Dentistry together with RSGM Gusti Hasan Aman. Prof. Maharani hopes that, by carrying out community service activities, FKG ULM and RSGM GHA can increase the awareness of the people of South Kalimantan regarding dental and oral health and achieve a generation of quality people starting with healthy teeth and mouth.
