Coordination of Follow-up Cooperation between ULM and KLHK
Banjarbaru – The Ministry of Environment and Forestry visited Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) on Wednesday (27/3/2024) at the ULM Banjarbaru Integrated Laboratory. The arrival of the KLHK team was welcomed by the Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Dr. Dr. Iwan Aflanie, M.Kes., Sp.F., S.H, Vice Rector III for Student and Alumni Affairs Dr. Muhamad Rusmin Nuryadin, SE., M.Si, and Dean of the ULM Faculty of Forestry Prof. Dr. H. Kissinger, S. Hut, M.Sc., IPU. This visit aims to coordinate and follow up cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and Lambung Mangkurat University.
Dr. Iwan Aflanie, dr. M.Kes., Sp.F., S.H., in his speech said that the visit from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry was an important moment as a form of commitment to the MoU that had been signed. Through this activity, Dr. Iwan conveyed the obstacles that ULM often faces as a university, especially in terms of following up on the MoU. Through this sharing and discussion activity, it is hoped that the collaboration carried out can be implemented well immediately, not only limited to normative and supervisory aspects.
“This visit from KLHK friends is also very important to support and make the ULM Higher Education Tri Dharma a success, namely Education. , Research, and Community Service,” he said.
Previously, ULM and KLHK had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 20th 2024 with the main aim of creating collaboration in order to achieve environmental and forestry development performance. The scope of the MoU between ULM and KLHK includes:
- Education Education and teaching in the field of environment and forestry;
- Study, publication and development of science in the field of environment and forestry;
- Socialization and counseling as part of community service in the environmental and forestry fields;
- Capacity building and support for Human Resources including implementation of the Independent Campus Learning Program; And
- Share data and information in accordance with policies and laws and regulations.
The areas of activity of this memorandum of understanding include environmental and forestry development. Cooperation can include programs and activities in several fields, including the fields of forestry planning and environmental management, conservation of natural resources and ecosystems, watershed management and forest rehabilitation, sustainable forest management, social forestry and environmental partnerships, climate change control, environmental and forestry law enforcement; controlling pollution and environmental damage, managing waste, toxic waste and hazardous materials, standardizing environmental and forestry instruments, and counseling and developing human resources.
